Garitte
Observation and control points of the precious white gold, they were the stations of the Finance Police. Built first in wood, then in cement, they are found along the entire perimeter of the salt pans and in front of the Salt Warehouses.
Along the circuit canal of the salt pans there were 58 garitte, one every 300 metres approximately.
A few remain: four are found around the Camillone salt pan, another five are always in the salt pans, one is on display at MUSA –Salt Museum, one is in the courtyard of the Casa delle Aie, one at the plant in Via Salara and another in the garden of the barracks of the Finance Police of Cervia, where a corner of salt pan was reproduced.
