At MUSA, exhibition “L’antico futuro”, from 1st to 31st July - Inauguration 1st July, at 9pm

From 1st July, at MUSA - Cervia Salt Museum, it will be exhibited the tradition of working marsh herbs, which has had such a part in the life of the salt workers. Indeed, a strong historical bond unites Cervia and Villanova di Bagnacavallo, from which the cattail mats used to cover the salt piles and to build the seasonal huts where the salt workers sheltered their tools and stopped to rest.

A relationship that still remains firm today: inside the Salt Museum the reproduction of a hut made with mats is on display, and the roof of the Camillone salt hut was built by workers from Villanova, according to the ancient technique of construction with marsh reed, of which it is possible to admire various uses at the "Villanova delle Capanne" Ethnopark, an outdoor exhibition section of the Ecomuseum of the Marsh Herbs of Villanova, in which the main types of rural buildings in reed have been reconstructed marshland typical of Ravenna.

Thursday 1st July at 9.00 pm, in the presence of the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Cervia Cesare Zavatta and the representatives of the cultural association Civiltà delle Erbe Palustri, the inauguration of the photographic exhibition "The ancient future" will be held, which will remain at MUSA until the end of the month.

The exhibition presents images of the Villanova Ecomuseum and artisans intent on the ancient art of weaving, which for centuries has characterized the small town of Lower Romagna, with a production of unique and original artifacts made of textures, weaves, twists and spinning mills.

To deepen the theme on Tuesdays in July (6,13,20 and 27) the initiative: MUSA meets the Ecomuseum of Marsh Herbs of Villanova di Bagnacavallo. During the evenings, visitors will be able to watch live a weaving demonstration and learn about the stories of those who still hold unaltered a heritage of knowledge in their hands, ranging from archaic artifacts, such as the fish bag, to fashionable products such as bags and hats. .

To complete the experience, the exhibition-laboratory "Playing with nothing" which will offer a playful-educational activity for the little ones, presenting a selection of old-fashioned games made with natural and recycled materials.
